PUBLIC PROGRAMMING

The BID partners with local stakeholders throughout the year to co-host multiple initiatives, including Back to School, holiday events, and seasonal celebrations.

NAVIGATING GOVERNMENT

The BID is the commercial district's primary facilitator when it comes to relationships with local government. We work closely with elected officials and city/state/federal agencies on various issues including public safety, sanitation, social services, and more.

HORTICULTURE & OPEN SPACE MANAGEMENT

The BID directly or indirectly maintains green spaces within the district's boundaries, including Roberto Clemente Plaza.

SUPPLEMENTAL SANITATION

Currently, the BID employs 2-4 sanitation staff (clean team) in the district, who operate Monday through Friday 7am to 3pm. We are always exploring opportunities and funding to expand our supplemental sanitation services. We partner closely with the NYC Department of Sanitation, who services and collects public waste that our employees have bagged and/or containerized.

PUBLIC SAFETY INITIATIVES

The BID supports public safety in a number of ways. This past summer, we piloted a Public Safety Ambassador to report public safety issues in the district. We also participate on the 40th Precinct Community Council, attending monthly meetings to elevate any public safety issues. We work closely with NYPD at the 40th Precinct as well as their Community Affairs officers to improve quality-of-life issues and address any emergencies.

OUTREACH & PUBLIC AWARENESS

The BID works closely with local stakeholders to spread awareness around any issues/initiatives that benefit the local community. This ranges from public safety and public health to entrepreneurship and local regulations. The BID serves as a sounding board to bring resources that strengthen the community and local businesses.

SMALL BUSINESS SUPPORT

The BID directly supports small business through marketing initiatives and retail attraction strategies. This includes hosting special events and campaigns throughout the year, connecting small businesses with commercial property owners/brokers, and working closely with the NYC Department of Small Business Services and other small business assistance programs to connect entrepreneurs with free resources. We also work closely with the Bronx Economic Development Corporation (BXEDC) and the Bronx Chamber of Commerce to support local small businesses around access to capital, marketing, and other programs.

EQUITABLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The BID serves as a convenor and facilitator when it comes to economic initiatives that benefit the existing community while attracting new investment. Most recently, the BID was awarded the Avenue NYC grant, which will allow the BID to conduct a Commercial District Needs Assessment (CDNA) and implement commercial revitalization projects that are responsive to local needs.
